Like many others, I lost contact with Ian. But he is one of those people that once they had been in your life, truly became a brother and comrade for the rest of it. Chris Goodsell |

I was so sad and shocked to hear the news about Ian. I worked with him a while back and have met him since then on some occasions usually in the course of his union work. He was a fun, gentle man and a committed social worker and I will miss seeing him. My prayers go out to Carol and his family. |

I got to know Ian during the 1980s and unfortunately drifted out of touch. however, he was not someone you forgot. His enthusiasm and sincerity were infectious, qualities he clearly never lost. Ian left his mark on the world. |

I worked with Ian as his Deputy Branch Secretary for many years and learnt such a lot from him. I still can't believe he is gone and am so glad that Carol and him managed and indeed got married in Inverness my now neck of the woods. Deepest sympathy to all his family many of whom I met at the wedding. He will be sorely missed by all. |
